Homemade chili is so cozy and tasty, and much healthier than a canned chili and who doesn’t love to support our bodies with eating healthier versions of food. We love adding extra vegetables where we can for a bigger bang for our buck around here. 

Recipe 

Here’s what you’ll need for ingredients:

Dutch oven or slow cooker

2 lb of meat (mix 1lb of two kinds or use two pounds of one kind; grass-fed beef, ground pork, round turkey, ground chicken)

4 carrots, chopped, optional

1 zucchini, chopped

2 yams/sweet potatoes or 1 of each, chopped

1 onion, chopped (or half red, half sweet onion)

10 oz Organic canned diced tomatoes, no salt added

4 oz Canned jalapeños (optional)

1.5 cup of brewed coffee

3 Tbsp cocoa powder

3-4 Tbsp Chili powder

2 tsp Chili flakes

3 tsp Cumin

3 tsp Onion powder

2 Tbsp Minced garlic

1 Tbsp Sea Salt

3 tsp Pepper

 

Brown the meat prior to putting it in the slow cooker, after that, add all the ingredients and let the magic happen! Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 2-3 hours. Tasty toppings include; avocado, cheese, sour cream, green onions, red onions, cilantro or even a little hot sauce! Let us know how it goes!
